Rogue Countries

What is a rogue country. You get different answers based on whom you ask this question. My definition is, a country in the name of self interests destroys or trouble other countries exploiting their weaknesses is a rogue country. For centuries Great Britain was a rogue country ruling, robbing, lootingm spoiling hundreds of countries all around the world. The amount of damage they have caused to the world is unimaginable. While there could be many other countries which would gone on to the rogue side to some degree, its the US which is next major rogue country. They have probably created every single terrorist outfit in the world. And now shed 'crocadile tears' when their creation is biting back. All they want is all countries fight with each other and thus they can arm the countries to the tooth and make money. US government and the businesses only understand money and nothing else.

And ir appears China after all the sufferings they went through is now becoming the next rogue country. They are arming all the countries and fueling fights. All that US played on them they are playing back. They are going one step furthe and providing the nuclear power to all irresponsible countries either it be Pakistan or North Korea.

While India has never been and will be never be a rogue country, but it must prevent playing into these rogue nations. The government must be bold and protect its national interests. Probably that ca happen only when the rogues are not ruling. For now aplenty in the Parliament and bueracracy.

Hoping for the best.

Cultural evolution thru Web 2.0

I got into LinkedIn, facebook and twitter more due to professional reasons rather than any personal motivation. But once I got into them, I started understnding their paradigms and in someway greatly benefitted. Through LinkedIn I connected back with my very old friends. Used Facebook to keep my friends on my location and what I am enjoying during my vacation. What baffled me is the concept of twitter. Such an amazing micro blogging tool that lets you know what's happening in the world on a minute by minute basis. I saw the most twitter is being used to take the articles of what people have seen over the net. Through the concept of follow, you can see whom you follow see. A great way to follow some famous personalities and their browsing behavior.

Through these links posted through twitter I read several discussions about social media and social networking and that time struck me it is much more.

First le me give my view of the culture. I see culture as set of beliefs, practices, perceptions (beliefs of which they don't understand the rationale) that shapes the way people behave in private and public. In the past different cultures evolved due to their disonnected nature of the societies. We have seen in the history how some travellers from the distance lands have come and influenced the cultures. And if one visitor from a different culture can do, imagine what can happen in a very networked and ever interacing world.

In this context I believe Web 2.0 sites, what ever paradigm they follow are going to influence the cultures to evolve and change, hopefully for the good.

It need not be only due to Web 2.0 but all sorts of media and means that is accessible to people. I conclude this with one very evident example to make my point clear.

In the recent (2009) Indian Parliament elections one has seen unprecendented results that baffled many. We have seen people and parties badly loosing who didn't factor the cultural changes that are happening. Candidates who took extreme positions, trying to façade a good image or not clean in their dealings were al defeated. Even those who were successful in their profession couldn't make it. I believe this voter behavior is nothing but that the cultural evolution that is happening. I only hope this is for the good.

Wish 2009

What do we Wish ?

Do we wish for you to be unaffected from Recession?
Do we wish for you to be safe from random violence?
Do we wish for you to be not victim of senseless terrorism?
Do we wish for a miracle to save us all from crumbling earth’s eco system?

What do we Wish?

We Wish All of it and Much More…
But, why do we wish?
As we are the cause of all this
And we can change, just not wish.

Think of not just you, but the entire world
Contribute to the environ, whatever you couldf
Fight the evil, in thinking, in practice and you should
Put efforts, spread the word of good.

It’s not what you have, but what you can
It’s not what you wish, but what you do
It’s not what you know, but how you practice
It’s all about thinking of the universal well-being.

We wish in 2009

To uncover the layer of laziness
Put on the hat of a global messiah
Do whatever little, start the baby steps
A good beginning, for years of happiness, peace and prosperity.

Wishing you All A Gorgeous & Peaceful 2009

India Has to Become Smart

2nd October 2008...the news highlights all over reads "Indo-US Nuclear Deal passed by Senate". There is also another highlight "India's Nuclear Tests will have Consequences - US".

Why does countries all over the world wants to conduct Nuclear Tests...primarily because there are some rougue countries who want to always fiddle with other countries.

In the past it has been US & Russia...who have stock piled thousands of nuclear weapons...and when they their research...wants everyone to be silence on nuclear tests.

There are many other countries who either through petro funding, due to vested interests are in the making of rougue countries and will always threaten their neighbours or oil-rich countries.

If US wants to be a big brother...they must do the following:
* behave in a way that all countries respect for their fairness and world interests (Bush has demonstrated that he doesn't even have American interest, it's all personal interest)
* control rougue countries in "really" ending terrorism and not become partners with them
* be humane in their business - rather than just be capital driven - we know where greed and arrogance take you - Lehman Brothers !!

India for centuries has shown these values and thus has emerged has longest surviving country of culture in the world.

It's time that India re-demonstrates these values through smartness and we become the catalyst for a peaceful world.

----Thanks Bapu for your leadership, we are an independent country...give us the courage to become independent mind that pratices the simple values you have experimented and taught all of us ----

India must practice excellence

Abhinav Bindra won Olympics Gold in 2008. Indian media goes full force to celebrate this achievement and declares India has arrived at "Olympics" and predicts this could turn India's performance in future events.

Rabindranath Tagore won Nobel prize for literature in 1913. Sir CV Raman won Nobel prize for Physics in 1930. If the same intense media would have existed then, sure they would have projected on number of Nobel Laureates India will produce in years to come. Well many years have passed since then...and we don't see a Nobel Laureate for the work produced in India.

We have several, scattered, (sad to say) individual achievements, either it be 1983 World Cup by Kapil's team, 1980 All England Badminton Title by Prakash Padukone, several titles by the great chess player, Vishwanathan Anand, etc. Indeed they are great achievements by Indians.

But what we fail to realize is...they are accomplishments by individuals, totally on their own efforts, on their own merit, often fighting several un-necessary battles against the system. They are Indians who achieved excellence in their chose field. They are not products of the system or a nation called India. They are products of themselves. I am sure their achievements, sacrifices, efforts are an inspiration for many...who ofcourse have to fight it out alone to reach such levels of international performance.

One could argue, that Cricket could be a good example of creating systemically many crickets. But I disagree, as we all know, while BCCI is focused in making money, it's the shear individual talent of the cricketers that make them shine. Sure, cricket is a cut above...but even a talented cricketer has to fight selfish, politically oriented system to get into the playing eleven.

Except for a very few, like Vishwanathan Anand, Tennis players, Leander Peas, Mahesh Bupathi, etc. many stop excelling after one wonderful win in the international arena. Look at Micheal Phelps on what he achieved in Athens and again in Beijing. The very next day, after winning 8 gold Medals in China, his focus is already on 2012 Olympics in London.

We need to focus on repeating excellence, whether it is the effort of the person or the system. We need to make the excellence a habit.

We must practice excellence in whatever job we do. We must build a system for the best to come-up. We must put the national interests above the personal interests. Unless we don't do, all our successes will be "flash in the pan" type.

It is the practice, commitment, dedication, focus, selflessness, .... that will take the country into the future. Let's dream and realize such a nation, called India.

It's Drivers who choke the roads

There has been considerable amount of discussions recently, on the occasion of the Nano Launch by Tata Motors, about how it will choke the roads.

I would like to share some thoughts on why actually roads gets choked.

The speed at which a car is traveling on the road depends on three factors: 1) the road and driving conditions, 2) the ability and power of the car and 3) the driving ability and skills of the driver.

Many a time, we observe vehicles going very slow on the road even though the entire road in front of them is empty and they are driving quite a powerful car. I have seen very slow moving Benz cars on a highway. This clearly indicates it's the driver who is the impediment and not the first two factors. The driver is clearly not skilled enough to exploit the driving conditions and the power of the car.

And this is the main problem even in our city roads. Drivers are simply not skilled enough to go as fast as they could and they should.

Apart from this skill, it is the attitude with which people drive. The driving should be with an attitude of "go and let go" philosophy. We should drive with a perspective of facilitating vehicles which can go fast instead of blocking just because either our vehicle is not powerful enough or we are not skilled enough to go fast. It's like a student blocking all the bright students from learning or writing the exam, just because he/she is not bright enough to understand/answer quickly.

We observe many times, a very slow vehicle, such as autos, going in the middle of the road. Neither you can over take it from right or left and thus will just go as fast as they go...inspite of have a better vehicle or better driving skills.

These are what chokes the roads. Small cars are only going to speed-up the process of having more vehicles on the road. What would have happened over a period of few decades to happen in few years.

It's the people who drive, park of the vehicles to be sensible....just don't blame the manufacturers.
